If you never played a Metroidvania game before, Metroid Dread is fine. Good place to start.
If you want some really fucking good Metroidvania game suggestions, play Hollow Knight, Axiom Verge, or the Ori series.

Or just play Hollow Knight and if you like it as much as I do then we can hang out and be friends immediately.

Or you can do like I am and play the game with no health upgrades, missile upgrades, or bomb upgrades. I honestly would not recommend doing this btw.
